Did you know, the happier you are in your life, the more productive you’ll be in your work?
No matter your current work situation (or lack thereof), keyboard jockey, paper pusher or creative mad scientist, you can get more done and elevate your status if you just spend a little time recounting or thinking about the things that have made you happy and injecting a little bit of instant and immediate win manufacturing into your life.
So, how do you do this?
Easy…quick, explosive movement.
Try this: If you’re sitting in front of your desk, push away from your desk or move the chair you’re in backwards a little bit (make sure you have enough room between the desk and chair to stand up comfortably), and depending on your fitness level, either simply get up and down out of your chair 10 to 20 times or stand up and squat down 10 to 20 times while maintaining a perfectly erect posture and bending nothing but your legs into a nice, nearly 90 degree angle.
Right after you do this, especially if you rarely do any exercise, you should immediately feel a rapid increase in heart rate, possibly a little warmer temperature and you might even have a little shortness of breath.
The point is, you’ll have immediately shifted your bodies energy and this change will have some other physiological AND psychological implications that you’ll like knowing about.
The chemical changes in your body will actually make you feel like you’ve accomplished something. Its this feeling of accomplishment and this minor success that will add the kinetic jump start needed to make some positive headway.
If success builds on itself, then I’ve just given you a very powerful, yet simple trick to instantly ignite a little foundational success that you can and should immediately build upon.
Every morning, now (this wasn’t always the case, lol), I wake up and before I ingest anything, I do at least 20 pushups and 20 lunges. Even if I do nothing else, I immediately shock my body into a productive state, which, incidentally, gives me the jumpstart I need to start my day productively.
If you don’t think it works…its most likely because you haven’t tried it.
If you’re willing to give it a try, I’d love to hear about it in the comments section below.
Even if you think this is a nonsensical rant, I’d like to know why in the discussion section.
If you have a better method that works for making you productive or just an alternative method that you think people should know about, I’d also ask you tell us about it below.
Before you leave this page and go on about your day, the final thought I’d like to leave you with and the question I’d like to pose to you is…
What are you going to do today that you’ll be able to look back on sometime in the near future and say…”it was because I did this (x) that I know for certain, if I hadn’t done, I wouldn’t have accomplished (y).”?
If you haven’t done anything that will bring you instantly measurably closer to your goal…at least give us your poorest and most pathetic excuse.
